UI Scaling in SimCity2013

For some reason I had the strange idea of playing SimCity 2013 today. Unfortunatly the game is not really optimized for modern TV resolutions. The UI and the ingame menu is way too small to enjoy playing the game.

The solution

Thankfully I was not the first person encountering this issue. I found an old Reddit post from 2016 with someone having the exact same problem.

As it turns out changing the UI scaling in Simcity 2013 is quite easy. Here’s a solution for Windows 10 and 11:

Just go to the following location: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\SimCity\Preferences) and open the Preferences.prop file with the editor or something similar.

There should be line called OptionUIZoomLevel 1 - changing the value to 3 and saving the file should multiply the ingame User Interface to three times the original size, which is pretty much perfect for a 4K/2060p display.

Hint: If you don’t see the AppData folder simply press the Windows Key and R simultaneously and enter %appdata% in the appearing dialog window.
